Preliminary Attire:
The attire for preliminaries usually consists of cocktail and swimsuit, however, each pageant will state attire required for that event.
Cocktail dress should be short, style and color of contestant’s choice. This should be a classy dress that compliments the contestant body and shape.
Swimsuit should be 2 piece, color and style of contestant’s choice. However, there are pictures
on this page that should give you an idea of coverage requirements. No over revealing cleavage please! Absolutely no thongs, rio’s, or t-backs allowed. Swimsuit should be in good taste and fashion. Each contestants body and shape are different, therefore, please dress accordingly. If director feel that the swimsuit is too revealing, the director has the final call.
State Pageant Attire:
Most state pageant attire will consist on long evening gown and swimsuit. Jeans or other clothing items may be needed.

Feel free to email director with questions regarding attire. However, while pictures of the attire in question are helpful, unless the attire is actually being worn by the contestant in the picture, any comments the director may offer would be only about how the attire appears in the picture, and should not be considered approved for the pageant until the director sees it on the contestant.
How do I become a Hawaiian Tropic® Model?
To become a model for Hawaiian Tropic®, you must first compete in any of the Miss Hawaiian Tropic® International pageants or preliminary pageants which are held in water parks, stadiums, night clubs, etc., all across the United States and in countries all over the world. The United States Finals are held in September each year with the four finalists going on to compete in the Miss Hawaiian Tropic® International Pageant Finals taking place in the spring.
Is there an age limit to enter the pageants?
The Miss Hawaiian Tropic® International, (MHTI), Pageant System does not have upper age limitations, however, the minimum age for contestants is 18. Preliminary pageant locations may have varying age requirements due to legal age restrictions which limit access to nightclubs or lounges.
Do I have to be single to compete?
MHTI pageants are not limited to single women. Contestants may be married and may have children.
Can I compete more than once in the same pageant?
Yes! A contestant is not limited to entering one Miss Hawaiian TropicŪ Pageant. She may enter as many times as she chooses until winning a title that allows her to compete in either the United States or International Pageant Finals. Only those who hold the title of "Miss Hawaiian TropicŪ International", past and present, are ineligible to compete again.
Can I compete in pageants in other areas or states?
Yes! A contestant is not in any way limited to the number of pageants she chooses to enter. Many contestants enter preliminary pageants while on vacation, such as Spring Break from college or holiday breaks.
Can I get a video of a pageant, phone number or name of a contestant or pictures of contestants?
NO!, We do not share contestant's personal information or sell photos or videos of the pageants. The Miss Hawaiian TropicŪ International United States Finals and the Miss Hawaiian TropicŪ International Pageant are broadcast nationally in the spring/summer of each year.
